Javier Álvarez is a Chilean documentary photographer who holds a BFA in Professional Photography from Instituto ARCOS. His work has been awarded, exhibited, published, and distributed in Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, Canada, and the United States. He has participated in various exhibitions, including "Fotolibros Latinoamericanos" (Les Rencontres d'Arles, 2022), "Reminders photography stronghold grant" (Tokyo, 2022), "Predio" (La Verne University, 2020), "Summer Open" (Aperture Foundation, NY - USA. 2020), "Fotoprensa" (Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo Cerrillos, 2017-2018), and "El álbum familiar" (Festival Internacional de Fotografía de Valparaíso FIFV, 2012).

Álvarez's work focuses on social themes and human relationships within marginalized groups. He is a frequent contributor to the independent journalism platform MIDIANINJA (Brazil) and a full member of Diversify Photo (USA).
